Sometimes, I thank God.....for unanswered prayers...

(all my Garth Brooks' gals are out there swaying and singing right now, huh?)

Seriously, though...I was listening to the radio a few days ago and I actually listened to the words of that song. I have been singing along with that song for YEARS and never really, truly listened.

It's so unbelievably true! Many of my prayers over the years would go "unanswered".....or, so I thought.....What I didn't realize is that God WAS answering these prayers by NOT granting me what I thought I wanted or needed. He and only He knows what is in my best interest....and the amazing path that He has planned out for me.

My prayers, however, changed about a year ago. Instead of praying for God to "hurry up already" and bring me a man, etc....My prayers were focused on listening to His direction, His guidance, and following His lead. I would ask him night after night to allow me to be open to whatever He had in store for me and accept it with loving thankfulness and appreciation. I prayed for patience, understanding and peace within my heart and mind.

........He answered these prayers fully.........

and has blessed me with this......

Thank you, Lord...for your "selective" hearing....

That is great!! I have had to remind myself so many times over the years that just because God didn't answer the way I requested didn't mean He was ignoring or not hearing me...He simply sometimes says no. But when he says no, it is always because He has something better planned!

Beautiful post! I know I wondered where God was in my life and then I prayed one night my hearts desire. He revealed to me a few years later that my husband was exactly what I prayed for that night and he was so right!
I agree, you are an adorable couple!
